      December 5, 2023 at 7:30 am HelloĀ  I am new here and hoping someone can help me out. I took over some repairs on a 441 meridan with cummins and v drive 2008 model year. When I got on boat the last company couldnt fix a No comm fault on port engine. I found several issues but main one was the mus plug had been changed and not wired correctly. I know have comm and engines start and run but I am without forward gear on port side. I am not getting the ground signal to forward …

      November 25, 2023 at 1:17 pm Your MAN engine probably has the same SAE specs as the QSM11–SAE 1 & SAE 14″ for the bell housing & flywheel–Should be “Plug & Play”Ā  Ā BTW—–The Twin Disc MG514CĀ  is a very good gear –kinda like they do not make them that good anymoreĀ  Ā  Ā    Caution though– The QSM 11 is most likely less engine that the MAN so you will need to prop down to where the QSM11 is at or below 20 GPM…

      November 14, 2023 at 5:04 pm I have 1998 Cummins 6BTA coupled to a Hurth V-Drive Model HSW 800 V1-2.0 with the stock oil cooler. I maintain the raw water system myself making sure aftercooler and heat exchanger are cleaned every 3 years. I did remove the oil cooler a couple years ago and cleaned and rigged up a pressure test to look for any leaks between the raw water side and oil side and it seemed ok.Ā  Oil level was ok.       October 31, 2023 at 6:59 am If you don’t have neutral safety switches, the engines will be able to start in gear. It doesn’t have anything to do with clutches. The neutral safety switches on my ZF gears are threaded into the box the shift levers attach to on the gear. The wire that carries the “start” signal goes from the helm START switch to the safety switch, then to the magnetic start solenoid. The switch only lets the ‘start’ signal …

      September 30, 2023 at 10:19 pm 2005 390 Sundancer with QSB 5.9 and ZF 80 transmissions. Ā Ports side engine sticking in reverse. Ā Replaced the entire solenoid assembly (parts from SBMAR) and it is still happening. Ā However after replacing it did hold neutral upon starting. Ā Forward shifted fine.       October 13, 2023 at 3:34 am Please double check what I am outlining here! A very knowledgeable dock mate suggested a possible remedy for your problem could be a dirty screen on the bad shifting plunger.Ā  If not already done remove shifting plunger (the thing the solonoid moves) and clean screen.Ā  There should be pics and/or drawings in your ZF manual. Seat both with a hammer a few times and double, triple, quadruple, tighten as reseat with a hammerĀ  as they are tightened.       July 14, 2023 at 1:27 pm Update:Ā  I was able to get both coupler nuts off.Ā  I did give clockwise a try, but got nothing.Ā  So I went back to counter-clockwise (normal thread) and a bigger cheater bar.Ā  While applying a lot of torque and tapping the socket with a hammer they both broke free!!Ā  Now to get those couplers off!!Ā  Thanks again for the suggestions!

      June 24, 2023 at 10:02 am Hi Tony! Last week, my Port side Cummins QSM11 with Twin disc transmission (MG5082 SC) with manual shifters, started to fail. Even with the lever in NEUTRAL, the shaft is rotating as if it was placed in forward but at a lower speed than if engaged to the FWD position, it also generates a little thrust. But also, FYI and feed back for the forum, I checked the oil level again and it was a little low, so I added less that a quart and guess what… The transmission worked just fine.       June 27, 2023 at 7:53 am Suck the gear dry out the bottom drain plug on the gear.       June 25, 2023 at 2:11 pm Yes you can suck it out that way, but even easier may beĀ  to putĀ  the oil pressure line that exits the pump into an appropriate container and start the engine.. The oil will all pump out until the pump sucks the transmissiom sump dry or sucks air and looses prime..
