Looking to get a little more HP on a tour boat. I have been running the 6BT 210 recon from Cummins. I have had bad luck over last 5 years had to repower twice. Both times I have had head gasket issues and leaky injector pumps at low hours around 2K . Anyway looking into the 6BTA 260 because it has a different injector pump and a little more HP that may lessen the load. I was unsure of exhaust size differences between the 210 vs 260 and was wondering if it was the same. This is not a high performance boat we chug around and look at the sights so we should be getting a lot of hours out of the motor. When I first built the boat cummins suggested the b210 and were not willing to go with a QSB because of exhaust concerns I was unaware of the higher HP choices in the 6B until recently when I saw the recon choices on your site. Anyway just looking at options

    Just an FYI..

1—–The 330/370 version are lower profile than the 260/270Ā  versions (basically theĀ  same as you have now)

2—-With the 370 version, it is very easy for us to limit the HP to the 250-280 HP range ( we do it allĀ  the time) when a operator wants the extended RPM rangeĀ  for better vessel control,Ā  a quieter engine, but NOT the extra HP or fuel consumption

3—The cost of the 330/370 is actually the less or the same as the 260-270 version do the the very low manufacturing volume of the 260/270.

    Got some info

Thanks for the reply. We currently are running a 5 inch wet exhaust. I did a little digging and it looks like the 260 ships with a 5 inch. I did a little more digging and looks like itā€™s the Ā 315 that shoots up to 6 inch. Although I would love to shoot up to the 315 I donā€™t think itā€™s worth cutting a bigger hole. Gonna do a little measuring and see if I have room for the extra height of the aftercooler and get a quote from you guys on the 260 recon. Thanks again and hoping you guys have some luck with the weather and get those fires out.

In general you need a 5″ or 6″ wet exhaust for the higher hpĀ  6BTA versions.

Without seeing very good pictures of exactly what you have , all is just a guess at best..

Lots of info on this web site underĀ  Ā “Tony’s Tips”..
