I went out fishing the other day and we hit a wave that gave us a pretty good knock, that’s when I heard my alarm go off and looked at the warning lights and saw my WIF (water in fuel) light on. which I had cut the ends off of almost a year ago when I pulled my Racor to rebuild, shortly after that all my warning lights came on my low oil, low voltage, and high temp. My gauges were still reading fine but I stopped the boat to check it out and I can’t find anything wrong with it. The motor still starts and runs fine gauges all read good. Now the WIF light is constant and the others glow dimly, I’ve cleaned the connections for it all and no change. I’m pretty sure its the alarm PCB but wanted some input before taking a $335 dollar gamble on a new one.

No I never have. Anything electric is my weak point. I noticed a few spots where you could see the gold through the green. Like the green rubbed off

A $3 chip… Is the board damaged or just the chip?Ā  Ever solder on a PCB before?

I checked all the connections at the senders again and still had the issue so I pulled the board to clean it like you said and I noticed on the top right of that black rectangle seems almost charred and if I look at it from the side it’s splitting down the middle and the far pin going into it is bent out. Which I’m no expert but I think reinforces buying a new one, but would love some input

Be 100% sure the wire connections at the senders a 100% clean, corrosion free, & secureĀ  too

    Salvaging a PCB

Do this as a “Last Resort” before to buy a new board……………….. Take a good pic of the wiring

Remove the board. Spray both sides with WD-40 and tooth bush away –do this twice and blow off with a stiffĀ  air hose.Ā  Don’t be shy but try andĀ  avoid the inside ofĀ  the buzzer.

Have you tried pulling the WIF from the back of the board?
