I believe I have a bad WIF Sensor which I am going to look to replace tomorrow on my 2007 QSB 5.9 370 hp. I am getting a 428 WIF alarm. Alarm sensor has gone off on about 3 or 4 times during the last 10 outings, and none of the last four outings until today. Went off after about 30 minutes of running at the dock, then went off for a minute, back on for a minute and then didn’t come on again until we started the boat a few hours later when we were headed back home,

I say I believe it is a bad sensor because boat always runs great, fuel looks clear red in bowls, only one fuel tank, and I see zero water in Racor Bowl where the sensor is. But, we will pull the Racor off tomorrow to get to the sensor off the boat and replace it. It isn’t the easiest to get to and change with the Racor on the boat. Only starboard alarm is going off, and it only has one fuel tank.

Question is, if the alarm goes off, and stays on, how do I turn the alarm off so I can continue home without the alarm blaring! Which is very annoying. Any help on how to temporarily turn it off would be appreciated. I don’t want to permanently bypass the alarms, because they are their to protect the expensive engines.

    No one yet?

I don’t and never have had a WIF alarm but if I did I would add an ON/OFF switch to stop it.

Maybe not the best idea but sometimes alarms must be disabled temporarily.   Just be sure it is enabled when the repair is done.     Build or buy a wee enclosure to house the switch so it cannot inadvertently be defeated.

    My ideas.

    Or ask the mfgrs.

And do the repair so you don’t have to depend upon the switch.
