Boat is an old military Willard being used as a tour boat. It originally had a dry wrapped exhaust  for a few feet then water was inputted right before the water box then out the boat above the water line. Over the years it fell apart. To get it going again quickly cause its in service every day we installed a wet exhaust with the stock elbow off the turbo into a Vetus exhaust hose aimed downward then back up and around into the waterbox and out the back of the boat above water line. It has been running like this for over a year. I had a head gasket go with low hours on the rear cylinder and also had a previous motor that had the same head gasket leak in the exact location so wondering if it has something to do with my exhaust setup maybe water going back up the line exhaust is 5 inch. motor is 6bt 210. Gonna re power soon with a 260 or 315 and want to get an opinion if what I did is correct or all wrong.

Exhaust Design– GRAVITY was left out of the equation

1——–Nothing off the shelf–all we do is custom to the vessels needs/measurements we have to work around with

2——ADVICE——–Everything  you could possibly need is in our exhaust articles and has been for years

3–You have (and had) plenty of room to do it right

    feeling kind of stupid

Well did some homework(thanks Tony) looks like I Plumbed a P trap going slightly up hill from the source. I don’t know why I did it. I should know better but it happened. From what I have read I do not have an issue with the water level my motor is high enough that I should be able to go down hill all the way to where the exhaust comes out 15 inches above the waterline. My issue seems to be my turbo spill over level would sit right on top of my exhaust tube. Now that might work if it weren’t for the stock mix elbow that goes even lower than that.I have been filling up the P trap with the exhaust raw water from the motor and prob creating a exhaust restriction that can be good for the motor. So I think I may need some kind of dry riser with a heat wrap to either my stock elbow or an all in one solution. As requested I have included all the measurements. SCARY indeed. I inspected my old motors turbo to look for signs of water and ever so slightly there was some rust on the outside edge not sure if it was from sitting but it was there. Please let me know if you guys have anything in your exhaust section that would work.Looking like i can go as high as 12 inches up with a riser before having to cut anything. I also took a pick of the old dry setup to mix down the line the boat originally had. Thanks again any advice would be appreciated.

Wow, scary is right.  Wet exhaust hose/tube must have a continuous downward slope , with exception given to sections of piping used as a riser after a water lift muffler.  It appears you have the room to do it right but what can be seen in your pictures is limited.

I took some time and looked at your pics and if what I think I “see” is right think (very scary) ,  then you need to study the attachments  and spend the time to  fill in the “??? / blanks” accurately………….

This will be the start of your education on “wet exhaust systems”  — Neither of us wants to see engine # 3 go poo-poo.
