Choosing the right Engine / Transmission Hydraulic Hoses for your Vessel
When choosing engine transmission hydraulic hoses, basically 3 main criteria concerns need to be addressed:
- The hydraulic working pressures of your transmission. As to marine transmissions used in the industry that are marketed for engines under 2000 HP, 100% of these transmissions operate at 400 PSI or less. What this means is that you need to choose a hose that easily meets & surpasses those requirements. Normally Burst Pressures are 3-4 times that number.
- The hydraulic flow in Gallons per minute of the transmission you have. This requires that you choose a hose size with an inner diameter and fitting size the does not create excessive pressure drop.
- Choose a hose type that meets specified quality and testing requirements for the industry the hose is made for. In this case, we are talking 100% MARINE. What is easier than to choose what our tax dollars have already paid for… Choose one that meets the very high standards of the USCG.
The hoses & ends fittings that we offer: 100% USCG approved, 100% made in the USA, and certified for use on all USCG certified Vessels (Sub-charter T, Sub-chapter K, all commercially licensed vessels, and others). Using a hose with these certifications removes all the guess work and that concern is now history.
